Sustainable packaging solutions are the need of the hour because they don’t deplete the natural resource of our planet. Now industrial giants such as Marks & Spencer and Pepsi Co. are taking some measures for contributing to the cause by launching campaigns that focus on recycling.
Marks & Spencer is a major cosmetic brand that generates around USD 10 billion annually. The brand launched a new takeback scheme for its products' packaging at 40 cosmetic stores across the UK. The new initiative will help to cut down the weight of empty beauty packaging by 2 tons that go to landfill every year.
The collection points will accept two types of packaging materials specifically, plastic, and aluminum. The head of M&S, Carmel McQuaid claims that we’re determined to produce lower carbon lives for our customers. The measure will help to provide the beauty empties a second life and aid in encountering the plastic waste challenge. The ultimate goal of the brand is to create a circular economy that leads to net zero plastic usage.
As a pilot project, Pepsi Co. introduced two packaging initiatives for the UEFA Champions League finals. In the first project, the brand streamline the process of returning the system for the packaging while the second project was related to launching biodegradable and recyclable fiber cups for the beverage. The project is limited to the Stadium only where fans will charge around $1 for the reusable cup and on returning will receive the same amount back.
The fiber cups will be stored for the next event in the stadium. Additionally, this project is now in the earlier stages where the stadium was used as sample space and is expected to expand for other stadiums and then come to the general public arena.
It’s a major fast-food brand that is committed to using sustainable packaging for food to positively impact the environment. They shifted to fiber packaging as around 83% of the packaging material was manufactured with recycling at the end of 2021, data was published by MacDonald’s in the purpose and impact report.
You can employ corrugated and Kraft packaging boxes that are completely recyclable. By using these packaging materials, you can also contribute to the cause of using sustainable packaging solutions and reducing your carbon footprint. When you use custom packaging boxes for your product, these boxes will help you to represent your product & brand with a specific color scheme, design elements, and unique style of boxes without compromising on sustainability.
